The real opportunity: Every multi-location home service platform has one branch, franchisee, or brand that books more jobs than the rest of the network combined. They quote with confidence, handle objections without a script, and rarely let a caller hang up without something on the calendar. Your best location:
  • Books the job on the first call
  • Knows which add-on or plan to offer, and when
  • Recognizes a maintenance-plan customer instead of a one-off
Your phones and chat need to deliver that same performance across every location, every shift, and every brand in your portfolio, not just the one with the strongest GM.

What to do

  • Interrogate the performance of your top-performing location. Segment your call data by location, brand, and call type instead of network-wide averages. Look at which branch has the highest booking rate, which has the highest average job value, and which has the lowest hold times. Then test those same conditions across your other locations and franchisees. If performance only holds up at one or two sites, that success is isolated to a strong local GM, not something your platform can replicate at scale.
  • Compare against your weakest-performing locations. Inconsistent booking rates across a multi-location network are rarely a hiring problem. They're usually a sign that after-hours calls at smaller or newer locations go to voicemail, a generic answering service, or no coverage at all. Across dozens or hundreds of locations, that gap compounds into millions in missed bookings and lost maintenance-plan renewals every year.
  • Confirm your AI hands off to a human the same way at every location. Your best GM knows which calls need a manager, like an upset customer, a complex commercial bid, or a warranty dispute. Your AI should apply that same judgment everywhere in your network: book, quote, and reschedule routine jobs on its own, and give everything else a warm handoff to a person, with full context attached, regardless of which brand or branch took the call.
What to look for
  • Booking rate that holds steady across every location, not just your flagship
  • Job value that doesn't depend on which branch or franchisee answers the phone
  • Escalations that arrive with full context already attached, network-wide

A booked job is what counts. An AI that answers the phone, reads your FAQ, and says "someone will call you back" is a very expensive voicemail, multiplied across every location running it. Your customers and your dispatch boards, at every site, need it to:
  • Check real-time technician availability
  • Schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment
  • Quote a standard job or service-call fee
  • Collect a deposit or take payment
  • Confirm the appointment and send a reminder
Your AI needs to put a real job on the board, the same way, at every location.

What to do

  • Test whether your phone or chat AI can complete a real booking, at more than one location. Call two or three different locations or brands in your portfolio. Ask for a same-week appointment, then try to reschedule it, then ask for a price on a standard job. If the experience varies from one location to the next, or it responds with "let me have someone get back to you" instead of checking the schedule and confirming a time, your network has a patchwork of systems, not a platform. At scale, that gap shows up as abandoned calls, double-booked technicians, and customers who call a competitor while they wait.
  • Assess continuity across phone, text, web chat, and brands. Start a conversation with one location, then follow up by text. Switch from web chat to a call. If a customer with properties or service needs across more than one of your brands has to re-explain themselves every time, your network is fragmented at the platform level, not just the location level.
  • Run a jailbreak and hallucination test across the network, not just your flagship brand. Ask it to quote a job it can't actually do. Try to get it to promise same-day service outside a location's coverage area, or waive a fee it has no authority to waive. If even one location or brand in your portfolio agrees, that promise becomes a customer expectation, and a compliance and brand risk, that your corporate team has to manage after the fact.
What to look for
  • Appointments booked and confirmed the same way at every location, without a human touching the call
  • Accurate, real-time quotes with consistent pricing logic across brands
  • Smooth handoff from chat to phone to text with no repeated information, anywhere in the network
  • AI that stays inside pricing, scheduling, and service-area guardrails at every single location
Brand risk signal

Every overpromised appointment window or made-up price gets tested the same day, by a real customer, at any one of your locations. One bad booking experience doesn't stay private. It becomes a Google review with your company's name, and your brand's name, in the title. Across a network this size, your board and your franchisees need to see what guardrails the AI operates inside, at every location, or it's a liability.

The revenue hiding in your service calls: A customer calling about a broken AC, a clogged drain, or a pest problem is far more receptive to a maintenance plan, a warranty, or an upgrade than a cold lead ever will be, at any location in your network. They're already motivated, already a customer, and already on the phone. A great GM catches that opening at one branch. An AI agent catches it on every call, at every location, every time, at 11pm on a Saturday.

What to do

  • Review service calls across your network for signals of upgrade or membership intent. Look for patterns across locations: repeat service calls on an aging unit, callers asking about cost more than scheduling, customers outside a warranty window. Then check whether those signals are consistently surfaced and acted on at every site, or whether it depends on which location or rep happens to take the call. At your scale, that inconsistency is a measurable hit to consolidated revenue.
  • Assess whether your platform acts on those signals in the moment, everywhere. Walk through real scenarios across two or three locations: a third repair call this year on the same unit, a caller asking what a maintenance plan costs, a customer past their service window. See whether your AI offers the relevant next step on that call at every location, or whether it only happens reliably at your best-run sites.
  • Evaluate whether resolved calls translate into recurring revenue across the portfolio. Pull a sample of completed service calls from multiple locations and brands, and look for unmet needs that never turned into a plan, a quote, or a follow-up booking. At your scale, that gap is the difference between a one-time job and a customer who calls your network first for the next ten years, no matter which brand or location answers.
What to look for
  • Maintenance plan and membership offers woven naturally into the right moment, at every location
  • Replacement or upgrade quotes offered consistently, regardless of which brand or branch takes the call
  • A smooth path from "my AC broke" to "I'm on the annual plan" with no extra friction, network-wide
  • No disruption to getting the original job booked, at any location
